In class Dr. Glassman was discussing how he found it so difficult to be a teacher at an inner city school. It has been a long struggle of mine to decide where I want to be teaching, inner city or suburban schools, so hearing a story about someone that has taught in one was great. I began to further consider whether I thought I could teach in a environment such as the one that he had described, which then me look for personal accounts. While searching online I found this article about a day in the life of an inner city teacher. Although it is short it gives a great perspective of what the daily life of a teacher is. The article may not be very descriptive, but it gives good examples of what she has to go through, from the text messages from students to the daily struggle of just hoping kids come to class. Hopefully if I have the opportunity to teach in inner city schools I will be able to handle the day with as much grace as this person did.
