The question in class was whether subjects inspired students or if the teachers of those subjects inspired students. Personally I feel that any subject can be enjoyable when taught the right way and in a manner where students are interested and engaged. All too often a bad teacher will ruin that subject for a student. For example, my sister's Spanish teacher in high school completely ruined her experience with the language. The woman was mean, not helpful, and very intimidating. I had an opposite experience and loved my high school Spanish teacher. I wholeheartedly believe that I would not have a Spanish major if it wasn't for her and her teaching style and support. Another example I have is about a professor here at Ohio State. I took an honors linguistics course with a professor that made incredibly dry material into a class that was actually entertaining. I definitely think that a teacher that understands their students and their interests will make a student's experience in school great.
