Evaluations

After talking about teacher evaluations I looked online for some more information. I found this article, http://www.ed.gov/Teacher-Evaluation-Systems, that is an interview with a women who has worked in the teacher evaluation system the past 10 years. She comments a lot about how difficult coming up with an effective system is, but mentions just a few key points that are necessary to make an effective one. I guess my question is why is it so complicated to come up with an effective system that benefits teachers, school administrators, society, and every one else involved in the school system. I think a system should be created in which proves to be effective and is then implemented into all schools. That way every one is on the same page and there is less chaos. Although I guess the hard part is coming up with that system.

  1. I couldn't agree more! After taking as few as 15 minutes last week in class we had several groups coming up with basic layouts of some pretty impressive ideas on how to evaluate teachers. After growing up in schools and working in and around them for several years it would only make sense that somebody would be able to come up with something better than what we've had in the past. I often wonder if it's money or disagreement but as a society after all the great accomplishes we've made you'd think we'd have already come up with something more accurate by now.
