From the two recent movies we have watched and various clips I have learned things about schools that I have never thought about before or even knew went on. I didn't realize how complicated being a teacher can be and how depressing it can be sometimes along with its rewarding moments. By depressing I mean the things that some teachers have to witness. Not all children have an easy life and to be a teacher in a poor school district they witness these things daily. I I remember experiencing this in FEEP, I was placed in the a school district that was very poor and many of the students their were in the lower class and struggled with their reading and math. It was frustrating to go into the classroom and know that no matter how hard I tried to help some of the children read they were still going to struggle. I couldn't possible change all their lives and help every single one of them pass. In the classroom I was placed in some of the children couldn't focus because their basic needs weren't being met such as breakfast and proper clothing attire for the weather. As a teacher I think it is so hard to see these things and know that you possible can't provide for each and everyone of them and try to teach them all they need to learn at the same time.
Then onto of these issue there are the issues in Waiting for Superman and Lottery it breaks my heart to watch parents with their children watching as their fate is determined by a small ball with a number on it. Some of these children just need a better education so they can hopefully have a chance to go to college and make a better life for themselves as many of their parents want for them.
Some of the things that affect children are things they have no control over such as where they go to school and if their parents are able to afford everything they need. The saddest part is, is that it is reality and it is greatly affecting how children do in school and as teacher you are witnessing all this. You have to remember what your duty is to the student though which is to help them learn and make sure they are safe at school but you can't always fix everything else that is happening in their life that is affecting their school work. I found a article that talks about how all this stress can seem like it doesn't effect a child but it does. It doesn't only physically effect them but mentally and emotionally. This eventually becomes too heavy of a burden for the children and other aspects of their life start to be affected such as school.

I feel the exact same way as you. when watching the movie clips in class, I too was very heartbroken to see almost 75% of the applicants dreams of going to a better school crushed. It's things like this that inspire me to work hard in becoming a good educator and mentor for children and hopefully make a difference in their life. It really is sad to say that the real world is tough and you have to look out for yourself. We live in a dog eat dog world and not everyone can live a prosperous life.
