Teacher Evaluations and Core Curriculum

As we discussed in class there is a new set of evaluations that are going to be used for the upcoming school years. There is a new evaluation for many States, Ohio included. This is going to create a large amount of stress among teachers because now not only do the evaluaters look at how well their students do on test, but also how well they are performing in the classroom with teaching. So now its not just one criteria that they have to fulfill as teachers but two, and considering some teachers could barely pass the evaluation with only one criteria I cant even imagine how teachers are going to do with two criteria. Its already difficult being a teacher today because parents like to put their perspective on teaching in and now there will be another person telling the teachers how they should teach. It is not possible for one person to tell a teacher the best way to educate their students when they only spend an hour in the classroom at most. The article that I found discusses how teachers are now faced with the changing teacher evaluations that are more rigorous along with a changing core curriculum. So now teachers are faced with the task of creating new lesson plans that fulfill the new core curriculum but also being able to teach those new lesson plans up to the standards of the new evaluation system. The short amount of time that's these teachers are being given to create a new lesson plans and adequately perform it is beyond ridiculous. There needs to be a time where there is no evaluations that can change a teachers pay or other things where they can do the trial and error needed to best teach the new lessons. This will be creating a large amount of stress on teachers that will create more hurdles to overcome. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/answer-sheet/wp/2013/05/23/the-serious-risks-of-rushing-new-teacher-evaluation-systems/
