Another Post Against Testing

I feel like I'm constantly ranting about how much I despise testing, this article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/stuart-muszynski/are-we-teaching-our-child_b_4080368.html) just gave me another reason to hate it.  In the first paragraph of the article it tells us that 10% percent of the incoming class at Harvard have admitted to cheating. We all know those people who cheated their way into and through college. As a person who doesn't take part in that, it's infuriating.  My grades, though not stellar, are good enough and despite that I don't feel the need to cheat. What bothers me is that I studied hard for my exam and I know the material but someone who has cheated receives a better grade thus seems to know the material better. As long as testing is a dominant as it is now, people we continue to cheat and get away with it. It's unfair to the people who chose to learn the material and thus not a fair representation of the ability of the people taking the test.

  1. I couldn't agree more with everything you're stating in this post. Blogging I feel like more than half of my posts and discussions are about how terrible testing is and how much schools are using it to determine so many different things. Along with that, we have barely talked about cheating in comparison to how much it's happening in schools. From middle school on I can remember so many of my classmates resorting to cheating just to show the higher test score which then correlates to a smarter and sometimes better student. When in reality this is not true at all and maybe if we didn't emphasize testing so much these cheating trends wouldn't be so popular.
