If Professor Glassman gave us one million dollars to create our own new school, we'd create one based on democracy. Like mentioned in the video, it's puzzling that we raise and teach children in an authoritarian based setting and then release them into a democracy. Therefore, we'd want to start incorporating the idea of democracy as early as possible.
When scheduling, the school would allow the students to pick some classes that they are interested in while then still taking some general "necessary" courses. On top of this, the teachers would then work with the students (collaboratively) to somewhat agree on ways to learn, and then assess the learning they have completed. This school would be in between a normal public school and a type of montessori school.
The teachers wouldn't be running an authoritarian structure in the classroom, they too would focus on democracy. An example being, the students don't need to ask to go to the bathroom or get a drink, they just go. Also to get the job, the teachers would go through an interview process in front of both students and an adult panel taking both views into account.
All and all this school would work towards the main idea of democracy. Every aspect should consider this idea and put it into affect.
