I think the key to ending bullying is educating school personnel, students and parents. There are so many strategies against bullying that are known to not work yet so many schools still use them because they aren't educated. I thought it might be interesting to look into strategies that DO work. One I found was Steps to Respect (http://www.cfchildren.org/steps-to-respect.aspx). It offers training for all school staff and lessons for younger children (K-3). It provides lesson plans for teachers to use in their classroom. It also offers social skills lessons for students ages K-8. This program takes multiple different steps to prevent bullying.
I am not a school administrator, I'm just a college student looking for something to blog about. If I can easily find this information (I literally look me minutes to find this program) and the stats about this program, why can't administrators do the same? School personnel get a first hand look at the bullying that occurs in their school. If they notice a problem why can't they see different steps need to be taken?
I definitely think you are right! I thought it was ridiculous how the assistant principal in the movie we watched Monday stated, "I don't know what to do..." I know bullying is very complex but someone that high up should have a solution. Like you said, people need to go with what is actually shown to work.
