Is Public School Becoming Pointless?
I've noticed that there seems to be so many more options for education than when I was in elementary school. It makes me wonder what's the point of public school when we have free charter schools, private schools, and homeschooling. In this article (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/matthew-lynch-edd/is-school-choice-an-anti_b_4186082.html) the author poses many interesting questions about whether or not we still need public schools. He believes that despite all these other choices, public schools can still thrive. I think I disagree though and I think a perfect example is Cleveland City Schools. Over the past few years the city of Cleveland has replaced public schools with chartering schools. After doing so, graduation rates have increased dramatically and schools are being run more efficiently. If these chartering schools are doing so well it makes me wonder what the point of public schools is?

Also, I know that a choice that is becoming more popular is online schooling as well. This still lets the student learn everything and have an emphasis in technology use. The amount of students that turn to the option increase every year. So your question of, what is the point of public school is something I would like to know as well.
